Ever see a musical about Dracula?

So there may be another Dracula Musical coming over the seawall (literally this one is from the UK.) The music and talent sounds good on the concept album with Music by Christopher J. Orton, Book & Lyrics by Gareth Evans and Orchestrations by Ian Lynn.

The question is will it (or should it) ever make it to Broadway.

The last Dracula Musical to reach Broadway was "Dracula, the Musical", an adaptation of Bram Stoker's classic novel with music by Frank Wildhorn in 2004. Prior to that it was "Dance of the Vampires," unveiled in December 2002, which closed after just 56 performances.

Maybe $20 million was lost between them both!

Mounting a Dracula stage production is tough (I know because I produced DRACUL a Dracula Musical.)

Mounting a Broadway production is even tougher! The reason; I don't think people can get there minds around singing vampires sucking blood just a short distance from an expensive Broadway seat.

I have seen enough productions of Dracula (musical and straight), including Frank Wildhorn’s, where the audience laughed when they weren’t supposed to.

In DRACUL we added a few new twists and installed our own humor so people knew when to laugh. I think it worked (let me know if you saw the production.)

So let's hear from those of you who have seen a Dracula Musical. What worked and what didn't.

If you think it's time to put a stake in the Dracula Musicals forever more that's a legitimate opinion.

This musical is great! I was looking online for any and all Dracula musicals to find one that I actually liked. Many have spectacular music- but appalling lyrics. Many have nice songs- but appalling singers. There are a few good songs, but no complete
musical to my liking.

Amazingly enough, this is it! Though the story is different than that of Bram Stoker's novel Dracula, it is that way with all Dracula musicals, and this one has wonderful music and lyrics. I ordered this CD within a week of finding it. Recommended songs include Fair Disguise, Sweet Sinfonia, Dark Gift, Torch Me A Song, and Poison. Altogether, great!
